Vodka with MSG

they were just continuing on an argument. one that they have talked about again and again. one that never gets resolved, only pended.

"the problem with you is that you are always waiting for people to disappoint you. its not wrong to let people in once in awhile" he says while opening the freezer to grab a bottle of icy cold vodka.

"fine. so what if i only let a few people in my life. is there something monumentally wrong with that? im nice to all people anyway! i make them feel nice... good about themselves." she says while opening cabinet doors looking for chips for them to munch on while they downed the bottle of vodka.

"yeah youre nice to them alright. giving them material things and spending money on them doesnt necessarily equate as being NICE."

she gasps at this outrageous statement.

"take that back! or else ill hit you so hard on the mouth, your dentist is going to wake up."

he laughs at her while she threatens him with a huge bag of salt and vinegar kettle chips.

"we have been friends ever since i can remember. we have gone through relationships, graduations, deaths in the family or friends, gone through the deepest of funks, did a lot of stupid things together and individually and yes, we even talk about your period and how erratic they are. but you cant tell me that i dont know you." he says while opening the door for her.

they were heading off to the vacant lot adjacent to his home. there was this wall there that they sit on. it had been on that lot ever since they moved to the village. he would often go up there to think and watch the sun rise or set. a lot of times it was with her.

"i dont understand people." she says in a small voice

he laughs at this statement.

"well i understand you. what i dont get is why you try to please people who treat you like dirt, while people who treat you well... you somewhat take for granted."

she looks at him incredously... but then shuts up for a moment...
